Home Services Decks & outdoor

Repair the deck. Re-stain the deck. Get the deck through one more Indiana summer.

We don’t build new decks — that’s a different business. What we do is the long list of “the back deck needs attention” work that gets pushed off year after year. Board replacement, railing repair, stain and seal, fence panels, pressure washing, gates that won’t close.

What’s included

  • Deck board replacement (treated pine, cedar, or composite)
  • Railing repair: balusters, top rails, post replacement, code-height upgrades
  • Stair and stringer repair on existing decks
  • Deck cleaning, sanding, and stain & seal in any opacity
  • Wood and vinyl fence panel replacement, gate hardware repair
  • Mailbox installs, replacement, and post repair
  • Pressure washing: deck, fence, driveway, siding (vinyl and brick)
  • Gutter cleaning and gutter-guard installs on accessible runs

How we work

  1. On-site walk & quoteFor decks we measure linear footage of damaged boards, check posts and joists for rot, photograph everything.
  2. Tear-out & assessmentDamaged boards lifted, joist tops inspected. If we find rot underneath, we stop and call before continuing.
  3. Repair & replaceNew boards cut to length on-site, gapped 1/8″, fastened with hidden clips or coated screws to match the existing pattern.
  4. Prep for stainClean with brightener, light sand on weathered areas, blow off, let dry overnight if humid.
  5. Stain & sealTwo coats by brush in seams, roller on flats. We stain only when the forecast says no rain for 24 hours after.

Decks & outdoor FAQ

The questions homeowners actually ask.

Do you build new decks?

No. New construction needs a permit, a stamped plan, and footings — that’s a builder’s job, not a handyman’s. We’ll refer you to a deck builder we trust if you’re starting from scratch.

What stain do you use?

Default: Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck semi-transparent in your chosen color. We also use Olympic Maximum, Cabot Australian Timber Oil, and Sikkens Cetol on request. We’ll bring sample chips before you commit.

What if it rains while you’re working?

We don’t stain or seal when the 24-hour forecast says rain. We’ll reschedule at no cost and slot you in the next clear window — usually within a few days. For repair work, light rain is fine and we keep moving.

How long should I wait before walking on a freshly stained deck?

Light foot traffic: 12 hours. Furniture back on: 24–48 hours. Heavy use (kids, grills, parties): 72 hours. We’ll tell you on-site based on the stain we used and the humidity.

Will treated lumber match the rest of my deck?

Not at first. New treated boards are wet and green for a few weeks before they dry to a similar color. If you want a perfect match, the cleanest path is to stain the whole deck once the new boards have dried for 4–6 weeks.

Do you replace structural posts?

Surface-mount posts on existing concrete piers, yes. Buried-post replacement that requires digging, footings, and inspection, no — that’s a deck builder. We’ll spot the difference in 30 seconds and tell you.

One more Indiana winter is hard on a deck.

Get on the schedule for spring stain & seal — we’re booking 2–3 weeks out from April through June.
